CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT FOR 6th GRADE

Hello and welcome to my blog! This blog is intended for a practice exercise for EDM 510.
As of right now, my goal when I am finished with school is to become a 6th grade math teacher. To get some experience, I became a substitute teacher and made it my full time job during the year. Usually, I try to sub in middle schools and I try to get into 6th grade classrooms. I also try to come up with lesson plans and teach students if I can.
My main concern is classroom management. Discipline in the school system is NOT like it used to be, and I feel as if students can get away with anything. Teachers keep telling me that it will be different when I have my own classroom, and I hope this is true.
My question to you is, what are some effective classroom management strategies for middle school students that you use in your classroom or that you plan to use?
